Who is eligible to apply for the Sara and Warren Welch Foundation Loan?

If you are a Big Spring High School graduate and will be attending college on a full-time basis, you are eligible to apply for the loan. Loans are also available to Big Spring students taking college courses while in high school.

Is there a deadline for the application?

There is no deadline, but it is helpful if applications are received by June 30. Applications received after that date, however, will still be considered.

Do I have to apply every year?

Yes.

When do I start repayment of the loan?

You will receive information for paying back the loan shortly after your proposed graduation date.  You will start repayments four months after graduation.

What responsibilities do I have as a loan recipient?

 Be sure to notify our office of any changes in name, address, school, enrollment status, and any other pertinent information.

How much will I receive as a loan?

Loans normally range from $1,500 – $2,500 per semester. The amount will vary depending on the number of applicants. The amount of a loan for a high school student taking college courses will be at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
